Aligning Logistics Resources to Supply Chain Requirements

Presented by Nick Testa, CFPIM, CSCP, CIRM, Jonah

The Supply chain is the thread of activities along which a product moves in making its way from sourcing of raw materials to the consumer.  Navigating that path invariably requires logistics.  Economic values of time and place are added by the logistics function.  What resources should be applied depends on where your firm is positioned in the supply chain and in geography.  The requirements for the two main elements of the logistics process, transportation and warehousing, must be related to the firm’s positions.  Since providing value to the customer is always the goal, ways to use the logistics resources to enhance customer value must be top priority.  An integral part of that process is optimizing transportation, warehousing, and their combination.  One should leave the talk with fresh ideas on how to improve the logistics support of the supply chain.
