MEETING THE SUPPLY CHAIN CHALLENGE IN A FLAT WORLD

Presented by
NICHOLAS  M.  TESTA, JR., CFPIM, CSCP, CIRM, Jonah

Operations Management cannot escape the impact of these events in a World that is becoming a single Global Economy. Natural disasters and terrorism affect businesses all over the world as supply chains become increasingly global and complex.

The presentation will focus on the changes in the supply chain in a post 9/11 world, and how they have worked. What does a responsible manager need to do in light of what is happening? What are other managers doing?

Can your supply chain withstand a rapid change in the cost of transportation? How about a shock to your customers’ trust in its reliability and safety? Is it time to start reexamining the trend to offshore manufacturing and local distribution?

Yes, the world is flat. But, for supply chain managers, it can be a pretty rocky place.

How do you plan to address offshore low-cost suppliers in many nations, yet continue to compete? How do you plan to capitalize on emerging markets, sometimes in those same offshore locations?

It’s a new world, and it requires new talent and skills.

Attendees will learn:

  • What challenges the “Flat World” brings, and how they’re impacting business.

  • What industries in other nations are doing to prepare.

  • How attendee’s companies can prepare.
