Natural disasters and terrorism affect businesses all over the world as supply chains become increasingly global and complex. The presentation will focus on the changes in the supply chain in a post 9/11 world, and how they have worked. What does a responsible manager need to do in light of what is happening? What are other managers doing? Can your supply chain withstand a rapid change in the cost of transportation? How about a shock to your customers’ trust in its reliability and safety? Is it time to start reexamining the trend to offshore manufacturing and local distribution? Yes, the world is flat. But, for supply chain managers, it can be a pretty rocky place.
