Purchasing Manager at Eaton Corp

Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Purchasing Manager in our Supply Chain Department.

  • The role will require individuals to be familiar with the complete range of strategic sourcing activities which includes the analysis of spend, the formulation and implementation of commodity strategies, the negotiation of contracts and the ongoing management of strategic supplier relationships (including Supplier Development), ensuring an effective supplier evaluation process and methodology is followed.
  • Experience conducting supplier fact-find audits.
  • Demonstrated procurement activity of, but not limited to, the following: Tools, Equipment, Machines, Castings, Forgings, Bearings, Complex machine parts including a variety of gears and major sub-assemblies.
  • A working knowledge of manufacturing processes, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, which include geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing techniques and practices, including procedures associated with sourcing internationally.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Managing and mentoring a dynamic team of purchasing professionals.
  • Establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include but not limited to supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, financial (AP) performance, kit rate performance and part shortage elimination.
  • Report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance.
  • Ensure performance improvement and recovery plans are developed, issued, tracked and reported on as required for supply base management and improvement.
  • Negotiate and execute sub contracts as needed to support the critical business needs.
  • Work with inventory control to insure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at a minimum.
  • Strategically develop and implement commodity/supply chain strategies covering all commodities, logistics, services and supply chain supplier processes throughout a global enterprise to deliver maximum value, leverage, and standardization. 
  • Lead a global enterprise organization within the scope of the strategic sourcing process to drive cost out of the supply chain by managing the following: 
    • Commodity and negotiation strategies including Terms and Conditions 
    • Supplier selection/de-selection, evaluation and supply base rationalization 
    • Supply chain solutions, including vendor managed inventory (VMI), supplier consignment stock etc. 
    • Logistics – lowest total cost of supply 
    • Uniform incorporation of Eaton Corporation’s supplier agreements/terms. 

  1. Manages creation, implementation and maintenance of strategic sourcing strategies for all commodity portfolios to support business requirements. 
  2. Leads product development commodity strategies in line with Corporate, Divisional, Site, SCM and Mfg initiatives to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce the total cost of supply chain management. 
  3. Leads commodity and implementation teams in delivering supply chain strategies within project timescales 
  4. Drives usage of cost models (TAC/should cost) to validate commodity strategies and to understand cost drivers 
  5. Manages all activities across with the Site Supply Chain leads to manage relationships with suppliers. 
  6. Develops an overall Sub contract group which creates and sustains a competitive advantage, utilizing global market exploitation, leveraging spend, and leveraging of technologies. 
  7. Provides commodity support to New Program Teams as required to meet Target Costs and establish Program cost models. 
  8. Manages materials savings initiatives in line with profit plan and overall business objectives for sub-commodity portfolio 
  9. Monitors/reports on process improvement and cost-out projects across enterprise 
  10. Work with supply chain personnel to support LRU processes. 
  11. Ensures appropriate performance measure (Quality, Cost, and Delivery) of supply base and feedback of results.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution. 
  • A minimum of 3 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
