 Certification Maintenance
Maintain Your Hard-Earned CPIM or CFPIM

To keep your CPIM or CFPIM status current and avoid suspension of your credentials, you must demonstrate that you have maintained your certification through the APICS Certification Maintenance program every five years. To maintain your hard earned designation, CPIMs must earn 75 professional development points and CFPIMs must earn 100 professional development points. Refer to the Certification Maintenance Bulletin for important program policies and guidelines. You can also view the Frequently Asked Questions page for more detailed information about Certification Maintenance.

Deadlines
Applications for Certification Maintenance will be accepted beginning in 2003 for individuals originally certified on or before December 31, 1998. Refer to the Certification Maintenance Bulletin and the Frequently Asked Questions page for information on when your application should be submitted. Candidates will be notified as soon as the applications are produced and available. Until then, use the professional development journal (contained in the bulletin) to track your points.

Earning Points
Many activities from a wide variety of sources are accepted for points toward Certification Maintenance. The Certification Maintenance Bulletin provides the official guidelines for accepted activities and points earned. You may view a list of topics and activities considered resource         management related.  This list is a compilation of responses to candidate inquiries regarding the eligibility of specific topics and activities. It is not an exhaustive list—it is presented only as a sample of some of the topics that fall under the definition of “resource management related."  If you are unsure of an activity’s eligibility for points, refer to the Certification Maintenance Bulletin. If you don’t see your question addressed, send an email to certmain@apicshq.org.
